Michael Kors is king when it comes to knits and furs for ready-to wear. This collection was Modern and fits the all-American, unfussy, and optimistic spirit. The lineup included Bias-cut dresses, military great coats in oversize proportions, huge fox robe, an evening dress tailored on top like a double-breasted tuxedo, and fox coat worn over a sweater and lace skirt. No one dose fur like Michael does it, he design it to a wearable standard for the everyday fashionable american woman to enjoy.
It was probably the most anticipated runway show of the season. Peter Copping (handpicked successor to Oscar de la Renta) debut his first collection as creative director. The collection was a tribute in such a way to the brands past and its future gathered together to witness the changing of the guard and to pass judgment. The collection had pretty dresses, constructed suits, sleek coat-over-dress, series of graphic tweeds, a full-skirted suit, and evening-wear with some inspired by the Black and White Ball including frothy cocktail dresses. Copping did a fine job honoring de la Renta and the house that he has inherited. This collection will please the legions of Oscar loyalists and shows that he knows what the house is all about.
This Marc Jacob collection had a vary edgy dark glamour to it. In my eyes I see seduction and he says that the styling was more about military precision without the reference. The collection had embellished coats, patchwork furs, decorative sweats, weaters with argyle and heathers, and a dress with faux-pleats made of fabrics. The lineup was full of jeweled, embroidered, grommeted, sequined, Brocades and lined furs.
Making a big statement this season was Marc by Marc Jacob’s Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier. For there fall collection their message of youth, energy and grit was strong and unwavering. Models walked in pieces that had “Suffragette,” “Solidarity,” and “Unite branded on them. the lineup had moto jackets and tailored skirts with tulle, structured maxiskirts and dresses, tailored fencing jackets, cropped trousers, and Embellished berets, biker belts with little utility pouches attached and studded shoes. The mood was vary militant in an aggressive but nonconfrontational way.
